Film premiere: "The Power of Remembering" (Die Kraft des Erinnerns)

This documentary is dedicated to the generations born after the Second World War and the long shadows cast by the past. It illustrates how the experiences and actions of parents and grandparents shape the lives of their children and grandchildren – even though they did not experience the war themselves. The film follows six emotional journeys tracing individual family histories. It sheds light on the entanglement and trauma during and after the Second World War, the family narratives that emerged from these experiences, and the transmission of trauma to subsequent generations and its effects. Two of the stories focus on displacement and expulsion. The Power of Remembering invites viewers to gain a deeper understanding of the significance of remembrance and presents ways of engaging with challenging family histories.
