Remembering the Hodolein Internment Camp in Olomouc - The Diary of Dr. Erika Frömel
Lecture and Panel Discussion
A team of researchers led by Prof. Anabel Buchenau from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte followed the traces of the initially unknown author of a typewritten booklet that was sold at an auction in Detroit. They came across the vita of the head camp doctor of the Czech internment camp for Sudeten Germans in Hodolein, whose report had been quoted anonymously for decades. The story of the infamous camp and the memory of it unfolds. At the same time, it is about the possibilities of finding traces in German and Czech archives over 75 years later.
