Wandering Readings

In a series of short readings, authors present texts and poems at four different locations within the Documentation Centre. Between intervals, audience members are invited to move freely between spaces and presentations.
Exhibition Hall: Poetry of Exile at the touch of a button
Press here for poetry. The Exile Poetry Dispenser offers poems on flight, home, and exile. Spanning eras and countries, 20 authors give voice to a world shaped by uprooting and the loss of belonging. With Volha Hapeyeva.

Event Hall: Ahmed Awny and Mazda Mehrgan
Cairo-born author Ahmed Awny reads from his work in Arabic with German surtitles. He is part of the Weiter Schreiben project, as is the poet Mazda Mehrgan from Kabul, who presents her poems in tandem with the German author Uljana Wolf.
In cooperation with Weiter Schreiben, a project by the non-profit organization WIR MACHEN DAS, supported by the Crespo Foundation, the Stiftung Preußische Seehandlung, the C.H. Beck Cultural Foundation, and the Weiter Schreiben Circle of Friends.
Room of Silence: Hekma Yagoub
Sudanese author and human rights activist Hekma Yagoub reads from her radical feminist texts, which address colonial myths and repressive regimes.
The author has been invited to ilb by the Goethe-Institut in Exile from Glasgow.
Library: Ali Alzaeem, Mariia Kaziun and Yasser Niksada
Ali Alzaeem, Mariia Kaziun, and Yasser Niksada use poetry to preserve the emotions and stories of their experiences of forced displacement. They read from their lyrical works in rotation.
All three poets are members of The Poetry Project.
