Wir Ostpreußen – Eine ganz gewöhnliche deutsche Familiengeschichte (We the East Prussians: An Ordinary German Family History)

The refugee account of his grandmother is the starting point for Jochen Buchsteiner’s book about East Prussia. He traces the journey of a landowning family as they flee westward, uncovering layers of loss that affected not only those directly involved. The result is a portrait of a nearly forgotten German province, whose tragedy, but also cultural uniqueness, comes vividly to life. This is a family history that dares to offer a contemporary perspective on Germany’s past.
