Workshop: Genocide against the Yazidis: Remembering and Documenting

Participants will gain insight into the specific work of the human rights organisation in the field of remembrance and reappraisal, and learn how to document and preserve experiences of genocide. How can the community itself shape the work of remembrance? What should be considered when conducting interviews, and what is the importance of post-custodial practices, for example when materials remain in the possession of families? How can resilience and strength be made visible alongside the pain?
The workshop will be led by Rênas Babakir, an archivist at the Yazidi Community Archive, and Layla Mirza, a genocide survivor who has been involved in HÁWAR.help's work for several years.
